About
Stephanie Bracelin
Stephanie Bracelin has been sewing since she was six years old. It all started with wanting clothes for her Barbies, and her Nana teaching her how to sew them. In middle school she was sewing clothes and creating fashions for her dolls and her friends for fashion shows. In high school she made her own prom dress her senior year and added a train to a friend’s store purchased prom dress. After attending college for Graphic Design, Stephanie moved to Seattle to take classes in Fashion Design to learn pattern drafting and draping.
Stephanie started quilting during the pandemic when her depression made it too hard to do anything but sew a straight line. She fell in love with quilting after learning that she could use many of her favorite fabrics in one quilt, unlike clothing. She began making art quilts and has been juried into many regional quilt shows across the nation.
Stephanie loves teaching about all aspects of sewing, especially clothing and quilting, and sharing her knowledge with others.
Stephanie has written and designed multiple projects and patterns for Stitch (Interweave, no longer published), Sew News, American Patchwork and Quilting, Make Modern magazines.
Stephanie has a passion for high quality fabrics, vintage design, garment construction, and small design details. She also enjoys running, yoga, creating things for her daughter, and spending time with her chickens. She currently resides in her 1920s home with her daughter, in her hometown of Des Moines, Iowa.
